David and Fiona - Les Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, Oxford - winter wedding
One of my favourite things in life is serendipity. On the day that Plymouth Argyle stayed up last season I had a chance meeting with Fiona in the legendary ‘Dolphin Pub’ on the Barbican.
Simon Hallet walked in with a couple of friends. I was at the bar, so I bought him a pint and we talked about fly fishing. (Like ya do!). And then I started gabbing to Simon’s lovely friend Fiona, and it turned out she was getting married to David later that year… Fast forward six months or so and hey presto; we’re all at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, Belmond Hotel in Oxford! One of the most luxurious hotels in the country! How amazing!
David and Fiona’s wonderful winter wedding at LMQS, was such an elegant and stylish occasion, and so full of character(s) - and FUN!!
I arrived the night before, so I was able to break the ice and introduce myself. I like to do this when weddings are a bit further afield; for one, it puts the bride and groom at ease knowing that I'm not stuck in traffic somewhere on the morning of their wedding, and two; I start to get to know the wedding party and they get to know me.
The morning of the wedding was chilled and very leisurely. As one might expect from this exquisite 15th century manor; the rooms were plush and luxurious, and – for us wedding photographers – the light was lush!
After some getting ready photos, we made our way to Le Belle Époque Conservatory for the ceremony where friends delivered heartfelt readings, vows were made, and rings exchanged. It was touching to see David and Fiona having ‘butterflies’ … weddings are a great leveller, and even the most accomplished – and normally unflappable – amongst us get nervous at wedding ceremonies. Good I say! We’re only human and the nerves are a part of what it’s all about, and that post-ceremony champagne tastes all the better for it!
Next; to the dining room for some exquisite culinary delights; the two Micheline stars kind – gosh! I thought I’d died and gone to food heaven! The food was A-MAZING and the service impeccable.
It’s worth mentioning how blooming lovely the wedding team were. Nothing was too much trouble for Jenny and her colleagues. (Thank you!).
Following on from the – very funny – speeches it was time to throw some shapes on the dancefloor! And we did; well into the night! I had such a fab time, and I always like making new friends! THANK YOU to David and Fiona, and their wonderful wedding party for making me feel so very welcome.
The wedding was a true classic!
Thank you!
